1-Acetyl-2-Phenylhydrazine (APH) (CAS: 114-83-0) is an anaerobically curable compound. 1-Acetyl-2-phenylhydrazine is used in the manufacture of anaerobic adhesives. A wide range of products have been developed for use with 1-Acetyl-2-phenylhydrazine. These products include gaskets, sealants, adhesives, and retaining compounds. Research and development in the field of anaerobic adhesives is growing with 1-Acetyl-2-phenylhydrazine. Organic Intermediate. Pharmaceutical Intermediate. Stabilizer. 1-Acetyl-2-Phenylhydrazine which reacts with oxyhaemoglobin to form free radicals may be used to induce haemolytic anaemia for studies of the hematopoietic system. 1-Acetyl-2-Phenylhydrazine is an amide and an amine. Organic amides/imides react with azo and diazo compounds to generate toxic gases. Flammable gases are formed by the reaction of organic amides/imides with strong reducing agents. Amides are very weak bases (weaker than water). Imides are less basic yet and in fact react with strong bases to form salts. That is, they can react as acids. Mixing amides with dehydrating agents such as P2O5 or SOCl2 generates the corresponding nitrile. The combustion of these compounds generates mixed oxides of nitrogen (NOx). Health Hazard Acute/Chronic Hazards : When heated to decomposition 1-Acetyl-2-Phenylhydrazine emits toxic fumes.
