2-(Chloromethyl)-3,4-Dimethoxypyridine Hydrochloride (CAS: 72830-09-2) is used as a pharmaceutical intermediate of Pantoprazole Sodium (CAS: 138786-67-1). Pantoprazole Sodium is a proton pump inhibitor drug that inhibits gastric acid secretion. It works on gastric parietal cells to irreversibly inhibit (H+/K+)-ATPase function and suppress the production of gastric acid. Pantoprazole Sodium improves pH stability and has anti-secretory, anti-ulcer activities. Pantoprazole is used for short-term treatment of erosion and ulceration of the oesophagus caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease.
