4-(Dimethylamino)butyraldehyde Diethyl Acetal (CAS: 1116-77-4) is used in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical intermediates, it is an intermediate for Zolmitriptan (CAS: 139264-17-8), Sumatriptan (CAS: 103628-46-2), Sumatriptan Succinate (CAS: 103628-48-4), Rizatriptan (CAS: 144034-80-0), Almotriptan (CAS: 154323-57-6). Zolmitriptan is a selective serotonin receptor agonist of the 1B and 1D subtypes. It is mainly used in the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura and cluster headaches. Zolmitriptan takes effect through binding to human 5-HT1Band 5-HT1Dreceptors, leading to cranial blood vessel constriction and the release of sensory neuropeptides through nerve endings in the trigeminal system. Sumatriptan Succinate is a synthetic drug belonging to a class of medications known as 5-hydroxytryptamine agonists (also called "triptans"), which is commonly used to treat cluster and migraine headaches with or without aura (warning signs occurring prior to the onset of a migraine). Sumatriptan Succinate is effective to relieve or eliminate the intensity of migraine and cluster headaches and accompanying symptoms including sensitivity to light or sound, nausea, and vomiting. However, Sumatriptan Succinate cannot help prevent future migraines/headaches or decrease the frequency of getting migraine and it is not recommended for other types of headache or for headache prevention.
