FAQ:

Application:

AMPSO (CAS: 68399-79-1) is an alkaline transfer buffer which facilitates nearly complete transfer of strongly basic proteins from gels to nitrocellulose without lowering the transfer efficiency for other proteins. The most common buffer for the blotting of proteins to nitrocellulose is the Tris-Glycine buffer (pH 8.3), however the transfer of strongly basic proteins can be very poor (~20%). An alkaline transfer buffer, such as 25 mM AMPSO, pH 9.5 allows for almost complete transfer of strongly basic proteins from gels to nitrocellulose without lowering the transfer efficiency for other proteins. AMPSO buffer is also used in PCR amplification and may be useful in several additional applications.
