4-(2,3-Epoxypropoxy)carbazole (4-Epoxypropanoxycarbazole) (CAS: 51997-51-4) is an intermediate raw material for the synthesis of antihypertensive drugs Carvedilol (CAS: 72956-09-3). Carvedilol was first marketed in Belgium in 1985. This product can block α and β receptors, has no intrinsic activity, has calcium antagonism at high concentration. Carvedilol can dilate blood vessels, reduce peripheral resistance and reduce blood pressure, but has little effect on cardiac output and heart rate. Clinically, Carvedilol can be used for essential hypertension and angina pectoris.
