Application:

Cholic Acid (CAS: 81-25-4), Non-denaturing ionic detergent used for extraction of membrane proteins. Major primary bile acid produced in the liver and usually conjugated with glycine or taurine to form bile salts. Facilitates fat absorption and cholesterol excretion. Uses: (1) Emulsifiers. (2) Cholic Acid is widely used as an intermediate in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. It finds use in biological research. Sodium cholate is a cholagogue, for the treatment of cholecystitis, bile deficiency, intestinal indigestion embolism. (3) As organic acids with steroid structure, cholic acid can emulsify fat, promote its digestion. (4) Non-denaturing ionic detergents for the extraction of membrane proteins. (5). Cholic Acid is used as a preservative for food.
