Diphenylsilanediol (Dihydroxydiphenylsilane; DPSD; CFS-422) (CAS: 947-42-2) is a silane coupling agent, is a very useful intermediate in the synthesis of organosilicon materials and is used as a structural control agent for silicone rubber processing. Diphenylsilanediol is an alkoxysilane that is used as a silane based precusor in the synthesis of organosiloxane based resins. Diphenylsilanediol is used in Medicine field, electronics industry and polymer material. It may be used to synthesize a nanosized hybrid waveguide material. DPSD may be used as a precursor in the synthesis of linear vinyl oligosiloxane resins which can be potentially used in the fabrication of thermally resistant light emitting diode(LED) encapsulant. Mercaptopropyl-phenyl-oligosiloxane and phenyl-vinyl-oligosiloxane may be synthesized by using DPSD which can further be used as a thiolene derived dielectric layer for organic thin film transistors. Preparation Diphenylsilanediol was obtained by controlled hydrolysis of diphenyldichlorosilane in the presence of aniline as acid acceptor and ethyl ether.
