Guaiacol (2-Methoxyphenol) (CAS: 90-05-1) has a fragrant smell. Gradually darken when exposed to air or sunlight. As an organic synthetic preparation, Guaiacol is mainly used in medicine, pesticide, perfume, insecticide and other industries, as well as cosmetics and chemical reagents. 1) For pesticides: it can synthesize plant growth regulator 5-nitroguaiacol sodium; 2) For medicine: used to synthesize a variety of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial drugs, such as potassium (calcium) guaiacol sulfonate, ibuprofen guaiacol ester and guaiacol glycerol ether; 3) Used in perfume industry: in addition to being directly used as perfume raw material, it can also be used to manufacture vanillin and artificial musk; 4) Antioxidants used in cosmetics industry belong to phenolic antioxidants, which have strong antioxidant effect, but the general addition amount should not be too much, and they usually need to be used in coordination with synergists, metal ion chelating agents, etc; 5) In chemical production, it is also used as other organic synthesis intermediates, gelatinizer, antioxidant and analytical reagent in printing oil.
