H-Tle-OH, L-tert-Leucine (CAS 20859-02-3) is an essential amino acid making up one third of our muscle protein. L-tert-leucine is important in developing chiral pharmaceutically active chemicals. It can also be used for the production of Chiral tridentate Schiff base ligands. It is a nonproteogen chiral amino acid. Because of the high steric hindrance of tert-butyl group, the derivatives of tert-leucine can be used as templates to induce asymmetry in asymmetric synthesis. Because of the large tert-butyl chain and its hydrophobicity, it can well control the molecular conformation in the synthesis of polypeptides, and increase the hydrophobicity of polypeptides and the stability of enzymatic degradation.
