N-Acetyl-L-Methionine (Ac-Met-OH; NAM) (CAS: 65-82-7) AJI97 Test Method
N-Acetyl-L-Methionine, when dried, contains not less than 99.0 percent and not more than 100.5 percent of N-Acetyl-L-Methionine (C7H13NO3S).
Description: White crystals or crystalline powder, strongly acid taste
Solubility (H2O, g/100g): 175 (40℃), 660 (60℃)
Identification: (1) Dissolve 5mg of N-Acetyl-L-Methionine in 5ml of water. Add 2ml of 10% sodium hydroxide solution and shake vigorously, then add 0.3ml of sodium nitroferricyanide solution and shake again. Allow to stand at a temperature between 35℃ and 40℃for 10 minutes, cool in an ice bath for 2 minutes, then add 2ml of dilute hydrochloric acid and shake well; a red-purple color is produced.
Specific Rotation [α]20/D: Dried sample, C=2, H2O
State of Solution (Transmittance): 0.5g in 10ml of H2O, spectrophotometer, 430nm, 10mm cell thickness.
Heavy Metals (Pb): 1.0g, (1), ref: 2.0ml of Pb Std. (0.01mg/ml). Make neutral with 2ml of 10% ammonia solution.
Arsenic (As2O3): 1.0g, (1), ref: 2.0ml of As2O3 Std.
Other Amino Acids: No spot. Test Sample: 10μg, G-2-a. No spot means that either principal spot of any other spots are not detectable.
