Application:

TES (CAS: 7365-44-8) is one of the ethanesulfonic acid series of biological buffers developed by Good et al. It is one of the Good's buffers and can be used to make buffer solutions. TES is one of the components of Test yolk buffer medium used for refrigeration and transport of semen. It plays an important role in production of pH buffers for a biological system. TES is used to make zwitterionic buffer solutions. It is used in molecular biology, diagnosis, cell culture, pharmacy, agrochemical and pharmaceuticals. Forms complexes with DNA and affects restriction enzyme kinetics. TES is a structural analog to Tris buffer. Good′s buffer criteria: midrange pKa, maximum water solubility and minimum solubility in all other solvents, minimal salt effects, minimal change in pKa with temperature, chemically and enzymatically stable, minimal absorption in visible or UV spectral range, and easily synthesized.
