Ceftaroline fosamil is a cephalosporin with activity against Gram-positive pathogens, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Ceftaroline Fosamil is a prodrug of Ceftaroline. It is being developed by Forest Laboratories, under a license from Takeda. It received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of community-acquired bacterial pneumonia and acute bacterial skin infections on 29 October 2010.
